Professional Practice Seminar

Designed for motivated teen and adult artists ready to take the next step in their creative journey, this three‑day workshop introduces students to the essential skills of presenting themselves and their artwork professionally. Through guided lessons and supportive peer feedback, participants will learn how to identify real exhibition and submission opportunities, and confidently apply to them.

By the end of the workshop, each student will complete and submit to an artist opportunity or exhibit of their choosing.

What Students Will Learn:

Day 1: Finding Opportunities + Building Your Materials
Students explore where to look for calls for entry, youth exhibitions, and other artist opportunities. They’ll learn how to craft an artist statement, bio, and CV that reflect their unique voice and goals.

Day 2: Preparing Submission Materials + Artwork Photography
Students will learn how to organize submission files, image lists, artwork labels, and file‑naming best practices and photograph one artwork in the studio using professional equipment.

Day 3: Artist Websites, Social Media, + Final Submission
Students receive an introduction to building a simple artist website and learn best practices for maintaining a professional online presence. After a final round of peer review, each student completes and submits their application to at least one exhibition or opportunity.
