Classes for ages 5-6 are a great stepping stone for aspiring new artists.  Lessons focus on helping the student to identify the basic underlying shapes, which make up more complicated forms. This approach gives students the tools to develop independence in their drawing ability. They are provided the structure of step-by-step visual guides, while also encouraged to problem-solve and use their imaginations to develop original composition and background ideas.

Students work in soft pastels, which offer the ability to work in vivid, blend-able colors, while still being easy to manipulate. Each class ends with an art show where parents are encouraged to attend. Classes are held weekly and are one hour long.

Standard classes are perfect for those who wish to develop and strengthen their artistic abilities. Artists start gaining familiarity with the fundamentals of art—including form, tone, color blending, developing a light source, creating texture- building a strong foundation to be able to create realistic drawings.

Continuing students build on these skills, moving up through Artworks-designed levels of increasing challenge and complexity.

Artworks maintain a small 7 to 1 student to teacher ratio, allowing each student to receive individual attention; each class contains a range of diverse levels and abilities, as students develop independence and the freedom to work at their own pace. After pastels, students may decide to move on to more advanced mediums, including watercolor, charcoal sketching, and oil painting. Each class ends with an art show which parents are welcome to attend. Classes are held weekly and are 90 minutes long.

Teen classes are offered to middle and high school students who would like to take their art to the next level. Experienced instructors guide students through advanced concepts in sketching with pastel, charcoal, and oils.

Emphasis is put on honing the student’s eye and skill in using tools of perspective, measuring proportions, and rendering realistic three-dimensional looking objects. The student-to-teacher ratio is very small, therefore giving students more one on one time.

Everyone is given the individual attention to advance along their own path while making sure to strengthen the necessary foundations required to succeed in any artistic endeavor.
